How to Stay Hydrated While Jogging

Remaining hydrated while jogging is essential to both your good health and your athletic performance. You can find many ways to do this, but whichever way you choose, you must make sure that you consume the right fluids and the right system for your body.

  1. First: Pick the right kind of hydration systems

You can carry water or another kind of hydrating beverage with you while you run; you can hold a bottle in your hand or, if that is too distracting, try a hydration pack. If you have not seen or heard of these, they are common among dedicated joggers. You wear hydration packs much like you wear backpacks; they feature the same styles, but, instead of space for carrying books or personal items, the hydration pack holds a reservoir of water. Tubes resembling straws stem from the back of the pack and reach your mouth so that you can easily access the water supply without having to stop, remove your pack and drink. If you run for exercise or in a race, you can save energy and time with these packs, and energy and time really make a difference.

  2. Second: Pick the best kind of drink

Joggers usually choose water, but other selections exist that can keep you in fine form. Try replacing spent electrolytes with popular flavored beverages that claim to do just that. Many sports teams and individual athletes swear by these drinks and even endorse them; you can see team members pouring these drinks over the heads of their teammates after games.
